The Beginning

My name is Sabah Ali. In 2019, after a battle with cancer, my father passed away. His death was a difficult shock that I struggled to cope with. Art became my outlet for expressing my emotions and overcoming the pain of loss.

Inspiration

"The one who lives for themselves dies, but their name lives on if they help others."
The pain of loss reminded me of the orphans living in camps, enduring similar suffering under even harsher conditions, unable to express or share their experiences.
This inspired me to contribute to lessening the pain of orphans through the means available to me, using art.

The Launch

The idea began with me drawing on tooth bags and selling them, then donating the earning to orphans.
Our first appearance as Rouh team was at the Arab Book Fair in Istanbul in 2021. From there, we took responsibility and managed to support our first orphan.

Starting the Journey

We continued our journey, participating in exhibitions where artists donated their works. We sold these works, ensuring that 100% of the revenue went to the orphans. After that we organized the first Rouh Art Exhibition at the Astrolabe Cafe, where we managed to sell over 70 artworks in less than two hours, increasing the number of sponsored orphans from one to eleven.

The Second Exhibition

There is a soul that paints, a soul that buys, and another soul that is made happy.
The second Rouh exhibition, in collaboration with Al-Atassi House, saw the sale of over 117 artworks, increasing the number of sponsored orphans to 23.

Rouh Eid Festival

At the Rouh Eid Festival, we experienced the joy of Eid and spread happiness among the children and families present. We sold over 250 artworks, using the proceeds to renew sponsorship for 33 orphans.

From a small initiative and the idea of selling my bags, built on the pain of loss, to a licensed association that displays works of art online as a virtual gallery, organizes annual exhibitions and campaigns, and a team that includes more than 50 male and female volunteers. We believe that goodness from soul to soul increases and its good impact lasts.
